Mark Pawsey MP listens

Mark Pawsey MP with Karen Shuter and local business owners
Rugby MP Mark Pawsey listens to local businesses.
Karen Shuter of Exact Logistics, as Chair of the Rugby branch of the Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, recently met Mark Pawsey MP, along with other local business owners to update him on their concerns .
A shortage of skills remains high on the list, as does the provision of broadband across the borough.
Another issue that is being felt acutely across the town and borough is the shortage of space for companies of all sizes and sectors. That goes for everything from incubator space for start-up and small companies right through to small, medium and larger enterprises who want to expand in the area, create new jobs and grow the economy.
Of course, the arrival of HS2 is another very big topic that businesses here in Rugby are concerned about and that was another matter picked up with Mark Pawsey in our meeting.
He was very keen to make note of all the issues we raised and, as a branch, we have always found that his door is open to listen to our concerns. He also highlighted areas where Government are able to support businesses if they are facing certain issues.
As you’d expect, he wanted to get across the message that he is ready to put Rugby’s case forward and to do what he can to promote the area as a great place to business.
That’s a responsibility that falls on all of us. While we know that there are issues that need resolving, we should also be first to highlight everything that Rugby and the borough has going for it and what a fantastic area it is to grow a business.
